Our Commitments to People and Planet
We require each supplier to sign our Commitments
These are mutually agreed commitments, which cover human welfare, environmental welfare and animal welfare.
Made in Italy, our Back to Front Shirt Dress is designed to be versatile for work from anywhere. Crafted from the lightest wrinkle-free technical crepe, it's machine washable, can be worn 5 ways and perfect to bring wherever life takes you.
Human Welfare
The Commitment to People demonstrates their commitment to high standards across manufacturing and taking care of workers, making each piece of Aday crafted with love and for the planet. The contracts are in line with the International Labor Organization’s conventions, there is absolutely no subcontracting, discrimination or working above 60 hours per week and all overtime must be paid in a timely manner and at a premium rate.
Our suppliers are required to advocate for education and sustainable solutions to eradicate child labor within their local region. We ask that all our suppliers work to incorporate diversity and inclusivity into the workplace, starting with unbiased hiring practices.
Environmental Welfare
The Commitment to Planet ensures their progressive approach to minimize negative impacts on the environment, as well as maintaining and continuously improving environmental policies and standards. They must maintain, measure and show evidence of intention to create a more sustainable future together, environmental Management System and/or ISO14001 certification and monitoring of energy and natural resource usage, emissions, discharges, carbon footprint, and disposal of waste.
Our suppliers all give annual disclosures and reports to us, including: maintaining, measuring and showing evidence of commitments towards adopting low carbon and renewable energy sources, water impact management and wastewater management systems, reduction and elimination of toxins, hazardous chemicals, an environmentally friendly waste management system and a recycling program, as well as being in full compliance with all applicable laws and regulations including maintaining valid permits governing land use and biodiversity and environmental policies.
We found fantastic teams to partner with in Portugal, the US, China, Turkey and Italy (List of Suppliers). If you have any questions about our suppliers, please ask us directly: hello@thisisaday.com.
Animal Welfare
We believe in treating animals with respect and compassion. We are committed to never using materials that require the suffering or killing of animals. This partially drives our choice to use “technical fabrics” are the majority of our fabrics, which are vegan as they are either manmade or derived from plants.
Two of our fabrics (Better Knit and Seasonless Merino) are responsibly sourced (cruelty-free) from animals; these materials include wool, recycled cashmere, and merino wool. These are sourced from sheep in South Africa and Australia and both fabrics maintain the following certificates: Non-mulesed, Global Recycled Standard (GRS) and Responsible Wool Standard (RWS).
The fabric mill we partner with to make these fabrics is a Woolmark and Woolmark Blend Certified manufacturer. Our recycled cashmere is made from upcycled scraps from luxury fashion production straight from the factory floor.
82% of our mills have water recycling and a purification process to clean and reuse water before disposing of it safely. This fabric mill in Como, Italy has their own biological water purification onsite, to clean the water before reusing it back into the production process. It creates the Technical Silk fabric used in our bestselling Something Borrowed Shirt.
